BREAKTHROUGH AC KINETICS GREEN MOTOR TECHNOLOGY PROMISES SIGNIFICANT ELECTRICITY COST SAVINGS FOR MANUFACTURING, TRANSPORTATION AND ENERGY PRODUCTION
Armonk, NY, November 4, 2014 — New tests show that an algorithm-based advancement in motor control technology developed by AC Kinetics, Inc. can significantly reduce electricity usage in AC induction motors used in motor-intensive sectors in manufacturing, mass transportation and energy production.
In tests conducted at Advanced Energy, an independent NIST-certified laboratory, against variable speed drives (VSDs) manufactured by Rockwell and WEG, AC Kinetics drives achieved significant energy savings on 5 hp and 50 hp motors. The certified dynamometer tests covered a full range of steady state loads and speeds.
“The efficiency gains over competitive drives measured at Advanced Energy were similar to in-house dynamometer tests we conducted on a 1 hp motor against VSD’s from such industry leaders as ABB, Rockwell, Schneider, Danfoss, Lenze, Yaskawa and others,” reports AC Kinetics President Neil Singer, PhD. “In all modes, our AC Kinetics drive proved more efficient and performed better than the competitive drives tested. Our software is packaged as an application program interface (API), compatible with existing VSD hardware.”
AC Kinetics testing at Advanced Energy is ongoing and will include more drive brands as well as transient speed and load comparison testing in the coming weeks.
